RICHMOND DEBATE
VISIT BV YOUNG PEOPLE'S CLUB team The latest meeting of the Richmond Debating dub was held in the old serool. The event of the evening was a debate between junior members of the club and a team from the Nelson Young People's Club. A party of visitors from town came with their teain and there was an audience of over 70 to listen to the speakers. Mr Hugh Brown was chairman and Mr D. Fowler was judge. The teams were; Young People’s Club. Misses McKenzie and Coleman. Messrs Sutherland and Murray (leader). Richmond. Mrs Moore and Mi's Hill, with Messrs Muir McGlashen and Cole (leader). The visitor took the affirmative on the subject: ‘Science is Beneficial to Mankind.” After both sides had developed their arguments and the leaders had summed up. both the audience and the judge gave their decisions for the Rich mond team. The judge pleased the audience with one of his practical and witty talks on debating methods. After some business with reference to the formation of the Drama Club votes of thanks were passed to the judge and the chairman.
