ADJOURNING TILL WEDNESDAY TRIBUTES TO DECEASED MEMBERS Wellington, This Day. After a short period on formal business this morning the House of Representatives paid a tribute to deceased legislators. After arrangements had been made to take the adjournment until next Wednesday instead of the normal time on Tuesday the Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Nash, pointed out that owing to the restricted inter-island ser- ■ vice members were unable to return for the sitting on Tuesday and sug- 1 gested that the House would sit on . three days in one week and five days the next to enable members to visit their homes once a fortnight. Mr Holland. Leader of the Opposition, j said the Opposition would co-operate but what was wanted was a normal inter-island service as the present service was inadequate. Mr E. P. "He had no enemies.” Several members, including the Leader of the Opposition, paid a tribute to the late member’s helpfulness to younger members in the House, while Government members recalled his courage as a pioneer of the Labour movement when he was called upon to advocate a philosophy which was then very unpopular. Tributes to the late Mr Frank Findlay (National Member for Hamilton) were also paid by Mr Nash, Mr Holland and others who praised his qualities of sincerity and friendliness to all. Mrs Ross, the new Member for Hamilton, said the death of her predecessor in the Hamilton seat had meant that not only the National Party but the whole of New Zealand had lost a staunch friend. She had yet lo meet a man of more generous heart. He helped people according to their need and irrespective of their politics. Tributes were also paid to the memory and services of the Hon. J. G.
