DWINDLING JAPANESE OIL SUPPLIES

EARLY ALLIED LINK-UP ON BORNEO EXPECTED

(Rec. 10.5 a.m.) London, June 25. The first Allied link-up since the landings on the oil island of Borneo may soon materialise, according to battle reports from Borneo on Monday, which put Australian forward units striking south from the captured oilfield of Seria within 25 miles of other Australian troops in the northern oilfield area of Sarawak, writes a Far East commentator.

Australian forces are striking new blows against Japan s dwindling oil supplies in Borneo. They are making new advances in northern Sarawak oilfields while American bomber and fighter squadrons attack the great oil centre of Balik Palan on the east coast.
