CIVIL AIR TRANSPORT COMMUNICATION QUESTIONS Wellington, June 24, “In the course of the coming month there will be three meetings in London, of representatives of Commonwealth countries,” said the Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Nash. “They are: Firstly, the Commonwealth Air Transport Council, which meets on 4th July; secondly, a conference on tele-communications commencing on 11th July; thirdly, a conference on radio for civil aviation, for which the delegates will assemble toward the end of July. “The Commonwealth Air Transport Council is meeting for the first time. It was formed by the Governments following the discussions in Montreal, Chicago and London toward the end of last year. The council is to keep under review the progress and development of Commonwealth air communications. to serve as a medium for the exchange of view's and information between Commonw'ealth countries on civil air transport matters, and to consider and advise on such civil questions as ore referred by the various Governments to the council. New Zealand will be represented at the council meeting by Mr J. G. Young. New Zealand representative on the Tasman Air Commission and formerly Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department, Air CQmmodore A. de T. Nevill, ViceChief of the Air Staff, and Dr. R. M. Campbell, official secretary to-the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London. ’ "The tele-communications conference will consider questions concerning the communications services of the Commonwealth and Empire. It follows a meeting held earlier this year in Wellington and other parts of the Commonwealth between representatives of New Zealand and Lord Reith and members of the United Kingdom mission. At this conference New Zealand W’ill be represented by Mr Young, Dr. Campbell and Messrs P. N. Cryer and H. W. Curtis, of the Post and Telegraph Department. “The third conference will discuss questions concerning radio for civil aviation. Its formal sessions will commence at the end of July, but will be preceded by visits of the delegates to different establishments in England and inspections of the latest equipme.nt. The New' Zealand representatives will be Air Commodore Nevill, Dr. Campbell. Dr. Coop, liaison officer in London of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and Mr H. W.' Curtis.”
