‘JOHNNY ENZED IN THE MIDDLE EAST”
"Johnny Enzed in the Middle East” is a lively publication containing a selection from the humorous column which has appeared in the "N.Z.E.F. Times,” the newspaper of the Second N.Z.E.F., since July, 1941, the period covered being up to September, 1943. The hope of the “joint perpetrators”— E. G. Webber and Neville Colvin —is “that this collection of ill-assorted facts and observations may prove a not altogether depressing record of some aspects of life in the Second N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East.” This hope may be said to have been fulfilled and if the venture is also a financial success, we are promised at a later date, “Johnny Enzed and the Bloke in Italy.” An amusing glossary at the end of the book has been “specially compiled by the General Staff and leading Arabic scholars,” and should be read in conjunction with it. “If this is too much truoble, just throw the thing away,” says the “signed confession” of the Editor. There are numerous appropriate illustrations and the book has been well produced by the “Morning Post” Printing House, Rotorua.
