GOLDEN JUBILEE
TAKAKA LODGE, U.A.O.D. VISIT FROM GRAND LODGE OFFICERS The Takaka Lodge No. 52, U.A.0.D., celebrated its Golden Jubilee on Saturday evening. The Arch Druid (Bro. C. J. Emms) presided over a very large •attendance of members. Visiting lodges represented were Collingwood,' Maitai (Nelson), Trafalgar (Wakefield), and Shedwood tTapawera). On behalf of Maitai Lodge, P.D.P. Bi’o. F. M. Day, made a presentation of a baton for the use of the M.C. in recognition of Takaka Lodge attaining its golden jubilee. The Grand President (Bro. F. Ramsbottom) and Grand Secretary (Bro. A. L. Williams) were received with full Druidic honours. The following officers were installed for the ensuing term by the District President (Bro. J. Davies) and P.D.P. Bro. J. McKnight): A.D., Bro. C, J. Emms; V.A.. Bro. R. R. Hambrook; J:P.A., Bro. A. W. Gibbs; secretary.-, treasurer. Bro. D. E. Winter; 1.G., Bro. F. Olson; 0.G.. Bro. C. W. Stobie; A.D.B.’s, Bros. C. Olson and J. W. Page; ; V,A.B.’s, Bros. W. E. Winter and F. A. Symes; M.C., Bro. W. H. Green. At the conclusion of the meeting about 70 members occupied the tables for supper. The toast, of “The King” was proposed by Bro. W. Green, and that of “Grand Lodge” by P.D.P. Bro. Emms. The Grand President expressed great pleasure at the very large attendance and congratulated the lodge on its golden jubilee. He also thanked the lodge for the warm welcome accorded* to the Grand Secretary and himself and the hospitality they had received. Bro. Ramsbottom outlined the. various new schemes <of additional benefits being submitted to the lodges and gave an in•eresting account .of the progress of the Order since its inception. ' The Grand Secretary stressed the advantages of lodge membership and the benefits available at present. If the members supported the new schemes as submitted to the lodges the benefits would be increased still further and the Order would progress and prosper. The toast of “The Visitors” was resoonded to by P D.P. Bro. McKnisht (Maitai), P.D.P. Bro. W. G. Douglas (Trafalgar), P.D.P. Bro. E. Friend (Shedwood) and a member of Collingwood Lodge. Bro. A. L. Williams, G.S., expressed appreciat’on of the gift of an iced cake bv Mrs W. E. Winter to the lodge. The function concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Svne and the New Zealand National Song.
