TRIBUTE TO AUSTRALIAN WARRIORS New York, June 12. The New York “Herald-Tribune” in an editorial says: “The campaign to win Brunei’s oil and rubber is being conducted by Australians who have done a good bit of th e most difficult and costly fighting in the Pacific, but they have not received their share of the credit. The Australians are colourful and valiant warriors, but in recent months they have uejn in action in an area where there are few correspondents.
“They have been struggling to clean the Japanese out of strongpomts bypassed by General MacArthur in New Guinea. This job. far benind the American spearheads on Okinawa ana Iwo Jima. has been a bloody affair but has had little attention. Now the Australians have a spearhead of their own it is hoped that their achievements again will have the recognition ♦hey so well deserve.”
