HIGH REPUTATION OF N.Z.
SERVICEMEN MAKE GOOD AMBASSADORS Auckland, June 12. “New Zealand has a very good name in Britain and her reputation is high.” l said the Leader of the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland, on his return from his overseas tour. The extraordinary good reputation enjoyed by the Dominion throughout the world, particularly in Britain, said Mr Holland, was established largely by the conduct of New Zealand servicemen. Wherever they had been, unquestionably they had been outstanding ambassadors for New Zealand. The fact that the New Zealand Divlsifta .remained in the Middle East while the position in the Dominion was critical was something that would long remain to the c redit of the country.
“I am confident that if we treat Britain fairly regarding the purchase of things she has to sell we shall have no difficulty in disposing of what we have to sell to her,” said Mr Holland, who enjphasised that Britain’s increased milk production would in no w.ay interfere with her requirements in respect tc butter and cheese from overseas.
The position regarding wool was a little less certain but there were many grounds for firm optimism regarding the future of this product.—P.A. •
