DAILY WAR EXPENDITURE

DECREASE SINCE JANUARY London, June 8. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir John Anderson, in the House of Commons, moving a supplementary vote of credit of £1,750,000,000 stated that the rate of expenditure had decreased by £2,000,000 daily since the introduction of the estimates on 24th January. The average daily rate in the last few weeks was £12,250,000, of which £11,000,000 was expended on the fighting and supply services. Sir John explained that a larger vote was requested because it would have to last until after the election.
