TRIBUTES TO SERVICES

THE LATE MR THOMAS JORDAN Wellington, June 7. Refei-ence to the contribution to local government by the late Mr Thomas Jordan was made by speakers at today’s sitting of the Parliamentary Committee on local government. A motion was passed expressing profound sympathy with Mrs Jordan. A tribute to Mr Jordan’s work and helpfulness was paid by the Minister in charge of local gvernment, Mr Parry, who said that Mr Jordan had been a great source of strength to 4ocal body government in the Dominion. Mr Parry also referred to Mr Jordan’s work in the Dominion’s patriotic movement, first as chairman of the National Patriotic Council and later as a member of the National Patriotic Fund Board.
