AT THE PICTURES

State Theatre: Now screening, “The 3lrls He Left Behind.” starring Alice f ’ a V" Pail Baker. Carmen Miranda. Benny Goodman and his orchestra. A lavish and brilliant musical triumph in natural colourings. “The Girls He Left Behind” is great entertainment: laughter, melody, loveliness and a story that is a story. Majestic: To-night and Monday. “Riding High.” This is a comedy with music and in colour, and features Dorothy Lamour, Dick Powell and Victor Moore. It has a good story, full of amusing Situations, and victor Moore provides plenty of fun as a counterfeiter who is very willing to turn money out of his own printing machine, so long as he is able to make some real money for himself.
