CEREMONIES IN NORMANDY

ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY London, June 6. British, American and French servicemen and French civilians observed D-Day anniversary on the beaches of Normandy, which were swept by a gentle breeze instead of the murderous German gunfire of last year, says Reuter’s Paris correspondent. The British held ceremonies at Arromanches where they landed in the face of ihe German 15th Army and where a great artificial port kept the Allies supplied during the critical stages of the invasion. French Government and diplomatic representatives attended ceremonies at American beachheads where American engineers and special brigades re-enact-ed the landings.
