WEDDING
RALFE—HAILES A wedding of interest to the people of the Nelson and Takaka districts took place at the Sacred Heart Church, Takaka, recently, when two wellknown families were united by the celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony between Mary Teresa, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. C. J. M. Hailes, of Upper Takaka, and Captain Terence Grant Ralfe, second son of Mr and Mrs J. H. Palfe, of Nelson. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Brooks, Parish Priest, of Takaka. The bride was frocked in white georgette over taffeta. Its soft simplicity was most effective and followed by her maids in blue frocks in the same style they formed a very attractive picture. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Nora Hailes, as chief bridesmaid, and by Miss June Ralfe. sister of the bridegroom. The bridegroom, who in February returned to New Zealand after three years’ service in the 2nd N.Z.E.F., was attended by Mr D. J. Finnigan as best man and by Lieut. G. Burke as groomsman, both recently returned to New Zealand after service overseas. The beautiful marble church, tastefully decorated, formed a fitting setting for the ceremony. After the Mass, the bridal narty and guests assembled at the home of the bride’s parents in Upper Takaka for the reception. during which numerous messages of congratulations ,and best wishes were received. Later in the day Captain and Mrs Ralfe left for a tour of the South Island, the bride travelling in a cherry tunic frock with navv accessories. They will reside in Nelson.
