SPECIAL TAXES REMOVED

ACTION BY CANADA Ottawa, May 11. The reduction of some special war taxes and the elimination of others, was announced by the Acting-Prime Minister. Mr Ilsley, in outlining the plans for conversion to peace economy. Special taxes on radios, building materials and household appliances have been removed. Warning against inflation, Mr Ilsley said the tax changes would assist the plan to market consumer goods at 1941 prices. The Selective Service Department would gradually be converted to a complete employment service department for workers. Controls would be eased as rapidly as warranted and travel restrictions to the United States relaxed.
