CLOSING DAY ON RICHMOND GREEN Gloriously fine weather prevailed on the closing day for the season on the Richmond bowling green, when there was a good muster of bowlers present. During the afternon tea adjournment. Mr N. R. Meads, president of the Richmond Club, took the opportunity to present the following cups and trophies won during the past season: Senior singles: W Grooby; runnerup, L. Wells. Junior singles: R. Austin; runner-up, W. Deer. Senior pairs: W. E. Poole and R. W. Smith (s); runners-up, W. G. Baker and A. W. Tanner (s). Junior pairs: H. Papps and P. J. Power (s); runners-up H Smith and W. Deer (c). Champion fours: E. C. Gamble. J. C. Gaffey, N. R. Meads, L. Wells (s); run-ners-up, J. Nelson, G. McGregor. W. Stanbury, W. Brooby (s). Gaffey Cup (pairs):G. McGregor and N. R. Meads (s); runners-up E. C. Gamble and R. W. Smith (s).
Mr E .C. Gamble’s trophy: R. Austin. Mr Gamble, vice-president, thanked Mrs Meads and Mrs H. Best for dispensing afternoon tea. These two ladies, assisted by others during the season, had prepared afternoon tea on practically every Saturday. A vote of appreciation of their services was carried with acclamation.
