VE-DAY ARRANGEMENTS

THANKSGIVING SERVICE AT WAKEFIELD When official news is received of the cessation of*hostilities in Europe a thanksgiving service will be held at Wakefield. This ceremony has been arranged by the Waimea County Council. If the news is received in the morning, before noon, the service will take place at the Wakefield Post Office at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. If the official announcement is made after noon the service will be held at 10.30 o’clock on the following morning. The speakers will include Mr J Corder, chairman of the Waimea County Council and Canon F. J. Daynes who is arranging the form of the service. The Wakefield Band will provide appropriate music.
