MUNICIPAL TENNIS COURTS

[To the Editor] Sir, —It is heartening to notice the interest of Nelson's new Council in civic affairs, especially Councillor Newman who brought up the matter of municipal tennis courts for Nelson. He deserves the wholehearted gratitude of the Nelson people in bringing this matter forward at the last Council meeting. He evidently has the interests of Nelson at heart, and tennis players should be especially grateful. It is disgraceful that a town of Nelson’s size should have only five grass courts and it is difficult to understand why the Nelson Tennis Association has been so diffident towards obtaining courts. I have been given to understand that the Association has no lack of finance. • In closing, it behoves the citizens of Nelson to make sure that this matter is not shelved like so many promising schemes.—l am, etc., H. W. BEST. Nelson, 26th April.
