NELSON BRANCH W.D.F.U.

ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS The annual meeting of the Nelson branch of the W.D.F.U. was held at Mrs J. A. Harley’s residence. The president, Mrs P. C. Hurst, was in the chair. It was decided to send £2O to headquarters, Wellington, for executive purposes. The branch’s activities during the year included an entertainment for country members with a bring and buy, the preparation of a hamper for the Fighting Services Club. Members helped with the opening day at “Melrose” in 1944 and the garden party this year. A small fee of threepence was paid by members at each monthly meeting, this amounted to £l/4/- ahd will be used for placing the names on some of the trees at “Melrose.” Thanks were extended to Mrs E. B. Jackson and Mrs J. A. Harley for the use of their rooms for meetings, and Mr Hooker for auditing the acounts. The officers and committee elected for .the year were as follows:—President, Mrs P. C. Hurst; vice-presidents, Mrs Wilkinson and Miss Maginnity; hon. secretary. Mrs Hooker; hon. treasurer, Mrs E j 3. Jackson; advisory members. Mesdames Hooker and Ritchie; trustees for banking, Mrs Jackson and Miss Mellett; auditor, Mr Hooker; delegates to Provincial meeting, Mrs Hooker and Miss Maginnity; committee, Mesdames Harley, Page, Veynson, Pownall, Nealey Taylor, Misses Mellett, Hunt and Tomlinson.
