SACRIFICES NECESSARY
CHINA WILL MAKE CONCESSIONS A|)DRESS BY DR T. V. SOONG Sun Francisco, April 26. Dr. T. V. Soong (China) addressing UNCIO said: “The late President Roosevelt’s vision, faith, statesmanship and courage has brought victory within sight. In tribute to his memory let us concert our efforts to complete the important task ahead in the fullest measure. China perhaps mere than any other nation understands the necessity of this conference. China has endured every misery and predatory aggression can impose. To ensure the fulfilment of our aims for an effective international security organisation we must lose no time. If there is any message that my country wishes to give, it is that we are prepared, in conjunction with other nations, to yield if necessary part of our sovereignty to the new international organisation in the interest of collective security. We must all_ be ready to make some sacrifices in order to have effectiveness.
•‘We of the Chinese delegation have Come from a part of the world with teeming populations whom the cataclysm of this war has stirred to the very depths of their soul. They have witnessed the rise and fall of mighty empires, have' gauged the depths of villainies perpetrated by brute force and they now strive ardently to attain the common goal of human liberty within the commonwealth of free peoples.”
