WHY HERRIOT WAS ARRESTED
London, April 26 M. Laval ordered M. Herrin’s arrest in October, 1942, because he refused to give a written pledge not to try to escape from France. He was interned at his home near Lyons in June. 1943. and transferred to a German prison camp. Herriot was three times reported dead. (A cable published yesterday stated that Herriot had been liberated from a German prison camn.)
