GUARANTEES INCREASED

RETICULATION OF CENTRAL AREA REQUIREMENTS OF WAIMEA POWER BOARD At the meeting of the Waimea Electric Power Board yesterday the engineer, Mr N. A. Andrews, reported that as a result of the efforts made by a committee set up in the Tapawera area, there had been a considerable improvement in the position regarding guarantees, the amount in the Tapa-wera-Tadmor-Kohatu area having been increased from £1673 to £2785. The board expressed satisfaction at the increase and passed a vote of thanks and appreciation to those settlers who had worked to secure more guarantees and increases in those already signed. The average guarantee per consumer in the Tapawera area was now £lB, said the chairman (Mr H. E. Stephens), and it would now be necessary for consumers in the remainder of the central area to increase their guarantees. The guarantees issued to date totalled £6BBB, of which 25, totalling £336. had not been returned. A further £2OOO in guarantees was still required over the whole area and he would like to see the guarantees up to the full amount before the next session of Parliament. Arrangements for further meetings of prospective consumers were, accordingly, being arranged in several districts.
