RADIO TELEPHONE APPEAL

£9OOO REQUIRED FROM NELSON PROVINCE As the result of the nation-wide radio, telephone appeal for patriotic funds to be held on the evening of Anzac Day it is hoped to raise the sum of £9OOO within the Nelson Provincial Patriotic Council’s area. The money will be expended by the council in providing comforts for New Zealand servicemen at home and overseas and in financing the patriotic work of the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the Red Cross Society, the Salvation Army, the Y.M.C.A. and the other similar organisations working in the interests of the members of the Dominion’s armed forces. Arrangements have ben made for all Post Offices to be onen on the evening of the appeal. All who wish to contribute, but who have no telephone, are advised to communicate as soon as possible with their nearest Postmaster who, on Wednesday evening. will telephone the donation to the radio station for acknowledgement. Contributions from the Collingwood, Takaka and French Pass districts will have their donations acknowledged through radio siation 2YA, those from the Murchison and Buller districts through 3YA, and all other donations in the Nelson district will be acknowledged from the local station, 2YN.
