DANCE AT UPPER TAKAKA

Prior to their wedding Miss Mary Hailes and Capt. Ralfe were entertained at a cheery dance given in their honour by the residents of Upper Takaka. Mr R. Sparrow asked Miss Hailes to accept a cheque from her many Rosemary Barnett presented her with a bouquet and wished her happiness. Captain Ralfe returned thanks on behalf of Miss Hailes. During the evening Mr Elder presented Pte. B. Profitt with a gift from the people cf the district, and extended good wishes to two visiting servicemen, Ptes. Spittall and Cromer. The lucky spot dance was won by Mr and Mrs B. J. Woods and the Monte Carlo by Miss Scott and Mr Rogers. Messrs K. Reynish and G. Page were the musicians and Mr S. Rosser, M.C. The ladies of the district provided the supper.
