RADICAL REORGANISATION

ALLIED CAMPAIGN IN FAR EAST New York, 9. "Radical reorganisation of the Allied campaign in the Far East is being evolved to expedite the conquest of Japan.” says the “Chicago-Tribune” Washington correspondent. “Under this plan the British and Dutch will take over from the United States the conduct of the war in the South West Pacific. The reclamation of Singapore and Malaya and British territory in the East Indies from the Japanese will become a job for the British Navy and Army. Dutch forces have already arrived in Australia for operations to recover Java, Sumatra and other parts of the Netherlands East Indies. “Henceforth General MacArthur will concentrate land operations against the Japanese in China and the invasion of the Japanese home islands, while Admiral Nimitz will direct supporting naval actions.”
