FURTHER RAIN LIKELY • . Wellington, This Day, Situation: An active frontal zone is moving slowly to the north-east over central New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m. Thursday: Winds from a northerly quarter, fresh at times, a temporary improvement this afternoon, but further rain likely to-morrow; temperatures moderate. Further outlook changeable with a few showers.
Light rain commenced early last evening and there were further isolated showers during the night, interspersed with boisterous gusts of north-easterly wind. Overnight temperatures were very warm, the minimum reading at th e Cawthron Institute being 54.8 degrees. Yesterday’s bright sunshine totalled 6 hours 4 minutes. This morning the weather was overcast and showerv with worm temperatures and a brisk wind from the north-east. Conditions improved slightly towards mid-day.
