SIX WEEKS’ IMPRISONMENT

KEEPER OF COMMON GAMING HOUSE Auckland, Apl. 9. A first offender under the Gaming Act, Leonard Stanley Dunford, aged 43. salesman, was sentenced to «ix weeks’ imprisonment by the Magistrate. Mr Luxford, this morning. Dunford admitting using his premises in Comjnerce street as a common gaming nouse on 24th March. When detectives visited the premises at 3 p.m. on that date they found Dunford had taken 119 bets totalling £134. For defendant, Mr Hall Skelton said Dunford went to the office two months ago when the previous occupant was imprisoned for a gaming offence. His intention was to collect money that was owing, but he began to take bets himself.—P.A.
