WOMAN APPOINTED
ROYAL COMMISSION ON LICENSING RESIGNATION OF MR THOMAS JORDAN Wellington, This Day. The appointment of Mrs- Bella Ferule Logie, Lower Hutt, as a member of the Royal Commission which is inquiring into licensing mattery, was announced last night by the ActingPrime Minister, Mr. Nash. He also stated that Mr. Thomas Jordan, Mnsterton, who was one of the original appointees to the Commission, had intimated his innbilty to act uii the Commission due to the pressure of his private busirfess, and his resignation had accordingly been accepted with regret. Mrs. Logie's appointment brings the complement of the Commission's personnel to the original strength of nine.
Mrs. Logie is the widow of_ the late Sergeant George Logie, of the 15lh Royal Scots Regiment, aud fpr several yekrs past she baj taken a prominent part in social welfare matters. She is president of the women’s section of the R.S.A. for the Hutt Valley, and is also welfare officer for that body. She is women’s representative of the Rehabilitation Committee of the Hu.tt Valley, and is president of the 'Women's War Service Auxiliary for the Hutt Valley. Of her six sons one was killed in Greece, one has been invalided home after long ser-
vice overseas, one has had throe and a half tears' service in the Middle East, one is in the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Pacific, one is a prisoner of war in Germany, and one is doing commando work with jje Navy in the North Sea area. Mrs. Logie also has three daughters. “In addition to the value to the commission of Mrs. Logie.'g personal qualifications.’’ said Mr. S'agh, “her appointment Will give expression to the desire of women's organizations for the inclusion of a woman in the personnel of th® commission.”
