POLISH GOVERNMENT
V.S. CONFIDENCE IN FAIR SOLUTION Washington, April 4. The Secretary of State, Mr Stettinius has sent a letter to Senator Taft expressing confidence that a fair solution will be reached on the constitution of the Provisional Polish Government. Senator Taft had written Mr Stettinius urging that the United States Government refuse approval to any provisional government predominantly under the influence of the Russian Government. Senator Taft expressed the opinion that a test could be found in Russia’s treatment of the Polish Underground Army. Senator Taft alleged that stories from Poland told of the arrest of members of the Underground Army, and their deportation to Russian concentration camps.
