AIR CRAFT AUCTIONED

BARGAINS IN SYDNEY Sydney, Mar. 26. All but seven of 85 aircraft offered for public sale by the Disposals Commission were sold immediately. It was the first group of aircraft publicly sold by the commission. The second group will be offered for sale in the next few months.

The commission’s sales promoter said that practically all the buyers were competent pilots. They included flying doctors, former squadron-leaders and flight-sergeants of the R.A.A.F., farmers and graziers. Aero clubs and several air training schools also bought planes. At the sale, £25,000 was realised, at an average price of £3OO. Two bargains, a Moth Minor and a Gypsy Moth, went for £IOO each. The only planes which remained unsold were seven large D.H.84 types, unsuitable for private flying.
