CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS CONTESTED CARNIVAL AT BLENHEIM Seven Nelson Amateur Swimming Centre championships were decided at the end-of-season swimming carnival held at the Blenheim baths on Saturday afternoon. The carnival was opened by the president of the centre, Mr F. E. Boulton, of Nelson. Competitors included a team of 22 young swimmers from Nelson and entrants from the Nelson and Woodbourne Air Force Stations. Weather conditions were ideal and -there was a fairly good, attendance of the public, keen interest being shown in the appearance of Miss Helen Smith, N.Z. intermediate breaststroke champion, and of P. Kotua, 100 yards intermediate freestyle champion. Results of the chamionship events were as follows. Nelson swimmers being indicated by the letter (N) after the names.—
