COMPETITIONS IN TAKAKA

SOCIETY REVIVED The annual competitions held by the Golden Bay Musical and Elocutionary Society were for many years a lookedforward to event. Due to petrol restrictions the competition society went into recess for three years, but at a well attended meeting recently, it was decided to hold them in the second week of the term holidays in May. The Rev. D. Martin occupied the chair and Mr Humphreys was temporary secretary. The programme was discussed and it. was decided to make few alterations. Sight-reading was eliminated and a section added for the encouragement of the many junior bandsmen in the district. The secretary was instructed to get in touch with those who, it was hoped, would act as judges.
