COMMUNITY CENTRE
ESTABLISHMENT AT RICHMOND At the last meeting of the Richmond Debating Club it was agreed to extend the activities of the society and the following decisions and arrangements were made: It was decided to establish a Community Centre with the object of organising and furthering the activities of several different clubs. The Rev. J. Grocott was elected chairman of a Central Committee, to which representatives from each sub-committee will be appointed, and a subsidiary committee was appointed for the Debating Club with Mr S. Croucher as chairman, and a provisional committee -for a Literary and Drama Circle, in addition to a Sports Committee. It was also decided to apply for permission to meet in the Old School and to secure a price for the use of the building as a regular meeting place. The question of furnishings was discussed and the meeting was enthusiastic in considering the prospect of future activities. "Science is Detrimental to the Welfare of Humanity.” was the subject chosen for the debate on the 2nd October.
