DEFEAT OF JAPAN

TWO YEARS AFTER REICH FALLS London, Sept. 27. The United States Office of War Information has issued a statement that victory over Japan will take probably one and a half to two years after the defeat of Germany. This estimate, it says, is based on information from the American State, War and Navy Departments and the Federal Economic Institute. JAPAN DETERMINED TO FIGHT ON (Rec. 10.50 a.m.) New York, Sept. 27. The Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr Shigemitsu, broadcasting over Tokio radio on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the signing of -the Axis Tripartite, said: “Japan is standing in a life and death struggle in the war which was forced upon her. Japan is determined to fight on until final victory.” Expressing admiration for Germany, Mr Shigemitsu said Japan would stick to her until a happy ending.
