Majestic Theatre: Now screening, Chester Morris In "After Midnight with BosBlackie." and "Two Senoritas from Chicago” with Joan Davis and Jinx Falkenburg, plus episode 10 “Perils of Nyoka.” Gunfire lights up a blackout, air raid sirens shriek, bullets scream and Boston Blackie, fiction's clever rogue, returns to the screen in his newest Columbia adventure film. With Chester Morris once more, other members of the cast who return in familiar roles are George E. Stone, Richard Lane and Walter Sande. Ann Savage, young starlet, plays the feminine lead. Skilfully combining all the ingredients which experience has shown are instrumental in chasing away wartime blues, Columbia's gay, new comedy, "Two Senoritas from Chicago,’’ really fills the bill with catchy songs, laughs that linger longer, daring, dynamic dancing and fast and furious fun. State Theatre: Week-end attraction, “The Sky’s the Limit,” starring Fred Astaire and Joan Leslie. The two favourites, brought together for the first time, give fine performances in their romantic roles. Fred is an cx-tiying Tiger pilot on brief leave before going into the Navy's air service. and enjoying himself in civilian attire in New York. Joan is a photographer for a picture magazine, anxious to do something for the war effort and impatient of idle young men With no apparent purpose in life. When the two meet there are fireworks, for Joan doesn’t approve of Fred’s seeming lack of interest in the war. But his unconventional methods intrigue her interest and a romance swiftly springs up. complicated by the fact that Joan’s wealthy employer wants to marry her also. The outcome is wrapped up in suspense and lun in delightful fashion, while Fred not only does some of the finest dancing he has ever exhibited, but proves to have an ideal partner. Robert Benchley is splendid as the third corner of the triangle, and three tunes and three spectacular dances enliven the proceedings.
