RECENT LAND SALES
APPROVAL BY NELSON COMMITTEE ORCHARD PROPERTIES CHANGE HANDS Among recent transactions approved by the Nelson Land Sales Committee were the following: An orchard property of 65 acres at Tasman sold for £4OOO. of which £2400 was for land and £I6OO for chattels. There were 32 acres in orchard and the remainder of the property was pasture. The sale price included a dwelling of five rooms, a four-roomed cottage. two workmen's whares. packing shed and other buildings. The purchaser was a returned serviceman. Another orchard property of 54 acres—l 4 acres orchard, 12 acres pasture and the remainder pines and rough grazing—was approved for sale at £2OOO. In the price of £1760 for the land was included two workers’ whares and a packing shed. A section of 1 rood 15 perohes in Queen street. Richmond, was sold at £250. The price of £125 was approved lor the sale of a vacant section in Muritai street. Tahunanui. A farm property of 19 acres at Spring Grove, described as suitable for cropping and tobacco growing, sold at £6OO to a returned serviceman. The price approved for the sale of a vacant section at Wakatu was £IOO. A house property of four, rooms in Vanguard street, on a section of 21.5 perches, was approved at £1460. Another dwelling, in Natalie street, of four rooms and garage, sold for £1290. In Beachville Terrace a 10-year-old house of five rooms was approved for sale at £llsO The Southern Cross Hotel, Reefton. w r as sold for £llsO. plus stock and furniture at valuation. There was no estimate of the goodwill. The hotel was a 50-year-old wooden building.
