ALLIED PLANES PURSUE ENEMY Rugby, Aug. 16. A Burma communique says: “The Allies in an advance south of Taungni have reached a village about two miles north of Pinbaw. On the Tiddim road the Allies have moved south-east of Kabaw Valley on a track to Sittaung and operations are in progress against enemy rearguard 18 miles f.om Timu. “With improved weather Allied air forces are striking hard at the retreating Japanese and are also extending operations deeper into the Japanese rear and railway targets. Two Allied planes missing.”
