TOWNSEND AND PAUL'S REPORT (Special to “Mail”) Wellington, This Day. Townsend and Paul. Ltd., fruit and produce merchants. Wellington, report that large supplies of grapefruit continue to come to hand, values being easier. Sweet oranges and mandarines are still sought whilst passion fruit, tree tomatoes and hot house tomatoes have sold readily. Large supplies of cabbages and cauliflowers have also been available, values being slightly easier. Choice lettuce continues to sell readily whilst there has also been a good inquiry for swedes, green peas, kumeras and new potatoes. Flower sales continue to be well attended, although with increased quantities of blooms coming to hand values have shown a decrease on those obtaining of late. Poultry sales, however, have maintained keen attention, supplies to hand being *ar from adequate. Quotations are as under: Hot house tomatoes, 2s 6d to 3s 6d lb; grapefruit, 12s to ,20s bushel case; oranges, 30s bushel case; tree tomatoes, 17s tc 21s 6d half case; passion fruit, 25s to 48s half case; Meyer lemons, 8s to 15s 6d half case; cauliflowers, 4 S to 12s 6d cask; cabbages (spring) ceiling price, (Savoys) 8s to 15s cask; carrots, 2s to 8s cask: pumpkins, 8s to 15s cask; swedes, 4s 6d to 9s cask; lettuce (choice) 8s to 20s case; peas, Is 8d to 2s lb; new potatoes, 4d to (id lb. Flowers: Violets, 2s to 5s (Id per dozen; sol d’ors, 4s to 10s dozen; daffodils, 8s to 10s dozen. Poultry: Pullets (best) 10s to 15s 6d each, cockerels (heavy) 8s to 15s each, hens (best) 8s to 13s each, W.L. 4s to 7s 6d each; ducks (Pekin) 10s to 18s each, (runner) 8s to 13s each; turkey Is 7d to Is 10d lb.
