PLASTIC PROTECTIVE FILM
A thin film of plastic with a special paper backing, made by a U.S. plastics company, provides protection for printed matter, blueprints, shipping labels, etc. To apply the film it is laid face down on th e material to be coated and pressed with a hot flatiron. The film, being thermoplastic, adheres firmly to the paper or cardboard beneath. As soon as it is cool the backing paper can be stripped off. leaving a glossy, waterproof and oilproof coating. In war plants the new film has been used to protect blueprints subject to constant handling in the shop. On tags and labels it provides an easy protection from smudging.
