ALL OUT RACE AGAINST TIME
BATTLE OF HEAVY GERMAN ROCKET SHELL London, Aug. 11 The Allies and the Germans are competing in an all out race against time in the battle of V ll—a rocket shell reported to be weighing 10 tons, which the enemy is frenziedly hurrying to build to launch against London, says the "Daily Express” aviation correspondent. German engin«eers and scientists are reported to be putting in day and night work to get V II working within the next few weeks, while British and American troops are making a fullscale effort to destroy the Welvmacht in France and force Germany’;, surrender in time to orevent the rockets being launched. It is known that the Germans have already produced a great number of rockets which suggests that they have sites probably nearing completion from which to launch them. It is likely that the enemy has at least half a dozen launching sites, although Allied air forces so far are only officially reported to have raided two in France. The remainder may be well back in Germany. A specimen of V II is already reported to have dropped in Sweden where it caused a quarter of a mile of devastation, mostly by blast.
