The partners, as bicycle dealers, are turned down by the armed forces, and become local air raid wardens. All goes well until they try to enforce a blackout, run afoul the unco-operative Edgar Kennedy, and are "fired” as a result. Eventually they uncover a nest of saboteurs and emerge as public heroes. A selected array of supporting features provides an entertaining first half. State: Now screening till Thursday, the frrhnicolonr sea spectacle. Rafael Saba i ini's -‘The Black Swan," starring Tyrone Power. Maureen O'Hara. George Sanders and Thomas Mitchell. This most exciting story of the sea has been translated into a rousing adventure film with all virility, tempestuousness of romance, and breakneck pace of turbulent action. The story holds a nautical telescope, so to speak, over the whole era when villainy wore a sash and cutlass, and the only political creed 4n the world was love, gold and adventure. The role of Captain James Waring. » buccaneer who plunders a ship’s pri>.c or lady's lips with equal abandon, would seem to be tailor-made for Power. And who better for his two-fisted brotherbrigands of the sea than those hissable character actors—Laird Cregar, Thomas Mitchell. George Sanders. Anthony Quinn and George Zucco.
