REHABILITATION LECTURES
SIX MEN VISIT NEW CALEDONIA Wellington, May 26. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced to-day that panel lecturers on subjects related to rehabilitation have been sent to New Caledonia to lectures to the men there, especially those who will be returned to New Zealand to enter essential industries. A concert party accompanied the lecturers, the whole party being organised by the Army Education and Welfare Service end National Broadcasting Service A preliminary report states that the lectures, at which attendance is voluntary have been well attended by troops. The six lecturers are Professor Delshaw. who is speaking on industrial and economic conditions; Dr. J. Nicol. speaking on rehabilitation literature and sicence; Dr. C. S. M. Hopkirk. Messrs C Walker and J. P. Duncan, of the Department of Agriculture, speaking on primary industries, and Lieut. M. Lee on housing, national and current affairs The lectures began on Monday of last week and the concert party, as well as providing stage entertainment, is organising choirs, play readings and drama groups among the soldiers. The Minister said the programme as well as being helpful to the men who will return to New Zealand, will also help to keep up the morale of the troops on active operational duties.
