GENERALS PROMOTION BLOCKED

Washington, May 25* The Senate Military Affairs Committee has blocked indefinitely the promotion of Major-General Patton to the permanent rank of major general. At the same lime it approved the promotions of 13 other high officers. Committee members explained that the action resulted from the soldier-slapping incident and also General Patton’s recent London speech concerning Britain’s, America's and Russia’s destiny to rule the world. One member predicted that the Patton nomination would remain on the unless General Patton makes a brilliant record in the invasion.
