READY FOR SECOND FRONT

ENGLAND PILED WITH WEAPONS London, April 16. Masses of armoured vehicles, amphibious craft and guns have been assembled all over Britain for the opening of the second front. The “Daily Express” publishes a remarkable photograph under the caption “On the mark for a grand scale battle—a second front line-up,” taken on a plain somewhere in Britain. The photograph shows as far as the eye can see droves of tanks and other vehicles in what is the greatest war park ever known. This is only one of many war parks which have been established throughout Britain Other second front preparations reveal half-track cars and endless rows of wagons in village fields and ammunition stacked in sidings and country lanes. All over the country parks are packed with self-propelled guns avenues lined with amphibious craft depots jammed with shrouded anti-’ aircraft guns and bulldozers and pontoons stacked in giant piles. One American correspondent recently said: “This island is slowly singing under the weight of it ail,’’
