MR SKINNER’S NEW JOB
PROTEST BY DUNEDIN R.S.A. Dunedin, April 17. At a meeting of the Dunedin Returned Services Association to-night Mr W. K. Cameron drew attention to the recent announcement that the Minister of Rehabilitation, the Hon. C. F. Skinner. had been appointed Commissioner of Forestry. Mr Skinner, he said, already held the portfolio of Lands, as well as that of Rehabilitation, whereas it had pi ways been the opinion of the New Zealand Returned Services Association that rehabilitation should be a full time job for a Minister. He moved that the executive should register a strong objection to the further loading of the Minister with the portfolio of Forestry. Mr D. Forsyth: The appointment of the Minister of Rehabilitation was made originally at the request of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association. Now it would appear he is to become just another Minister. The chairman, Mr C. R. McLean: When Mr Skinner was appointed Minister of Lands it was stated that this problem was closely bound up with that of rehabilitation. The motion was carried. —P.A.
