FIRST MEETING OF YEAR The first meeting of the year of the Nelson Philosophical Society was held in the Nelson Institute last night and was fairly well attended. The vicepresident. Mr F. G. Gibbs, was in the chair. The speaker for the evening was Dr. D. Miller, who gave his presidential address on “Insect Behaviour and the Scope of Entomology.” He was thanked on the motion of the chairman. With the full programme which the committee of Ihe society has been able to arrange for this year’s session it was decided to start a month earlier than usual.
