NAZI MAPS FOUND

SENSATION IN SWEDEN

INVESTIGATION TO BE MADE London, April 17. The Swedish Customs have confiscated 25.000 large-scale maps of Central Sweden reported to have been consigned from a firm in Germany to military authorities in Oslo, says the Stockholm correspondent of th e “Daily Express.” The maps cover those parts of Sweden where action may be expected if Germany attacked Sweden. They were discovered in a Danish ferry-boat at a south Swedish port. The newspaper “Alton Tidningen” quotes the Nazi Press attache in Stockholm as denying a German intention to attack Sweden. He said: “Germany has too much to do elsewhere.” The Stockholm correspondent of “The Times” says: “Whether the sending of a consignment across to Sweden without any attempt at concealment is a mere slip or a wily trick it cannot help serving as a reminder to the Swedes that the military threat from Germany is not completely over.” The Stockholm correspondent of the “Daily Mail” reports that the maps significantly bore markings indicating that they were made last month. The discovery caused a first-class sensation in Stockholm. The Prime Minister, Mr Hansson, in a speech, declared: “We do not know exactly what is behind this, but the matter will be investigated most thoroughly.”
