£I7OO EARNED IN ONE DAY Sydney, April 5. A Bathurst canning firm paid out more than £I7OO in one day to briar berry (rose hip) pickers. The firm advertised that no more berries would be accepted after that day. and. from early morning to late at night, berries were brought to the factory in all types of conveyances, ranging from cars to billy-carts. The day’s deliveries weighed 12 tons. One man was paid £36 for about 4001 b. of berries. The vitamin content is extracted from the berries and used to fortify foods for the Army.
