PAST V. PRESENT

OLD BOYS WIN IN LAST OVER The annual cricket match, Past v. Present, was played at the College on Saturday and resulted in a win for the Old Bo3 r s at a few seconds to time, the last wicket falling half-way through the last over. With two retiring, Old Boys got their innings through by the tea adjournment, after a bad start. College also made a very poor beginning but later wickets pulled the total up a little. The game was instituted in 1908 and was the first played by the Old Boys’ Club and also the first on the new College ground, and except for 3 or 4 years during the last war has been played ever since. Scores:

Bowling: Neale took 2 for 9, J. Newman 2 for 21. T. Vass 1 for 11, R. Vass 2 for 7, Langbein 1 for 13, Wilde 0 for 7, Hunter 2 for 2. In last season's match, played on 3rd March 1943. Old Boys scored 159 (C. V. Neale 47. A. Hunter 46; Tennant 4 for 17) and College replied with 153 for 5 wickets <H. W. Hill 91. Robinson retired 28; (E. R. Neale 2 for 16).
