RETAILERS MEET

TRADING HOURS DISCUSSED FIVE-DAY 43-110 UK WEEK SUGGESTED Wellington, This Day. In view of the pending expiration of the retail shop assistants’ award and because of the difficulties of presentday trading due to war conditions,, it was decided at a meeting of the advisory council of the New Zealand Federation of Drapers and Allied Retailers, held in Wellington this week that favourable consideration be given to the introduction of a fl,ve-day 43-hour week, contingent on acceptance by the workers’ union of certain conditions. With the object of enabling the consolidation of the various sections of retail traders affiliated ter the Federation, to permit the affiliation of other retail trade groups not at present allied with other organisations, and pave the way for the consolidation of all retail interests, it was decided to change the name of the federation to the New Zealand Retailers’ Federation.
