MAITAI GOLF CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING The annual general meeting of the Maitai Golf Club was held last evening. The president, Mr F. V. Powell, was in the chair, and there was an attendance of 14 members. In moving the adoption of the annual report the president reviewed the past season and expressed the opinion that it had been quite successful. The financial position was not as good as in previous years, but he stated that there was nothing to worry about, as the Club was financially sound. The policy of the executive was to keep the club going as a duty on behalf of the members absent on active service and so far they had succeeded very well. There was room for 15 to 20 new. members and he appealed to those present to do all they could to swell the membership. Referring to the coming season, Mr Powell stated that there was a considerable amount of long grass on the links, but he had made arrangements for mowing and there should be no difficulty in opening the season on Ist April. The supply of golf balls was going to be difficult, but the New Zealand Golf Association and the New Zealand Council of Sport had been active in the matter and it was expected that a limited supply would be available. In conclusion, the president expressed his appreciation of the work of the executive, and thanked all those who had in any way assisted the club during the year.
The motion was seconded by Mr F. Cuff and carried.
